Hospital Comfort Blankets
Annual Volunteer Initiative
Bringing comfort, warmth, and emotional support to children spending their holidays in the hospital

Every year during the holiday season, Jillian’s Jay Walkers brings comfort, warmth, and emotional support to children spending their holidays in the hospital. Through our Hospital Comfort Blanket Program, volunteers come together to hand-make soft, colorful comfort blankets that are delivered to pediatric patients in need of encouragement, connection, and a reminder that they are not alone.
This joyful annual event brings our community together with one shared purpose: to lift the spirits of children facing medical challenges during a time when comfort matters most.

Program Purpose
Hospital stays can feel lonely and overwhelming, especially for children. A handmade blanket offers:
-
A sense of comfort and security
-
Emotional warmth during a difficult time
-
A tangible reminder that someone cares
-
A cheerful, comforting item they can keep long after their hospital stay

How the Program Works
Each year, volunteers from Jillian’s Jay Walkers gather locally to:
-
Cut, tie, and assemble soft fleece comfort blankets
-
Add thoughtful touches such as notes of encouragement
-
Package and prepare blankets for delivery to local hospitals
-
Spread holiday cheer and support to children and families
The blankets are then personally delivered to pediatric units over the holidays, bringing smiles and heartfelt moments to children who may otherwise feel disconnected from the season.
We have partnered with the Cystic Fibrosis clinics at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor and the Detroit Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital.
