Grocery Assistance Reimbursment
Every Calorie Counts!

Grocery Store 2.jpeg

Proper nutrition is a cornerstone of health for people living with cystic fibrosis (CF). Because their bodies struggle to absorb fats, proteins, and essential nutrients, individuals with CF often require 1.5 to 2 times more daily calories than those without the condition. These extra calories are essential for maintaining weight, strengthening the immune system, supporting lung function, and fighting chronic infections.

Yet the rising cost of groceries makes it increasingly difficult for families to consistently access the nutrient-dense foods their health depends on. This creates a dangerous gap between what people with CF need and what they can afford.

The Nutritional Support Program was created to close that gap by offering direct resources that reduce financial strain and empower individuals with CF to meet their unique nutritional needs.

Program Resources Provided

  • Grocery Assistance Grants: Helps offset the high monthly cost of nutrient-dense groceries required to maintain weight and support lung health.

  • High-Calorie Nutrition Resources: Provides practical, CF-informed guidance on affordable, calorie-rich foods and snacks designed to boost energy and support daily health.

  • Meal Support: Offers tools and suggestions for building high-calorie meals, incorporating supplements, and managing appetite changes or digestive challenges.

  • Education Tailored to CF Needs: Delivers user-friendly education on calorie requirements, enzyme usage, vitamin absorption, and nutritional strategies that support long-term wellness.

Why This Program Matters

People with cystic fibrosis live with elevated nutritional demands every single day. Without adequate calories and nutrient absorption, they face increased risk of infections, worsening lung function, loss of energy, and overall health decline. Access to proper nutrition is not optional — it is a critical medical need.

By reducing the financial burden of groceries and providing specialized nutritional guidance, this program helps ensure that individuals with CF can maintain the strength, resilience, and stability they need to live fuller, healthier lives.
